Travels 1000 Miles On 'Cycle On His Furlough

Travels 1000 Miles On 'Cycle On His Furlough
December - 1944
Hutchinson, Minnesota

Rail or bus transportation didn't bother Staff Sargent George Scholpp when he learned at the last minute he could leave the Army Air Base at Pueblo, Colo. for a Christmas furlough. Twenty minutes after the furlough was granted he was on his motorcycle headed for Minnesota. Traveling 1000 miles, part of which was through snow and sleet, he reached home just 30 hours later.
